The SCM GUVD of Bishkek received information that citizen E.E., born in 2000, carried the skin of a rare wild animal, and was making attempts to illegally sell it.
When he was detained, a black sports bag was found, inside of which was the skin of a rare wild animal, presumably a snow leopard, listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan.
Pre-trial proceedings were started under article 295 (“Illegal hunting and catching fish or aquatic animals”) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
With no more than 500 snow leopards left in the Kyrgyz mountains, every incident like this is extremely damaging to the survival of the species.
