Abror Sabirov, son of Shukhrat Sabirov, the director of the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulations of Kyrgyzstan, was placed in jail-1 in Bishkek for two months.
On September 3, officers of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes detained a DAF truck. Inside they found a white Toyota Alphard and a silver Honda Elusion. According to the primary documents, these were registered as auto parts. The case was registered by the ERPP under the article ‘Evasion of customs payments’.
Sabirov was detained on September 9 on suspicion of a robbery and the theft of two smuggled cars from a parking lot in Kant. At that time, the Chui regional police department reported that the suspect and his accomplice had tied up and beaten the guard of the parking lot, then hid the stolen cars in Bishkek.
Sabirov’s trial took place on September 12: he was charged under the article “Robbery” of the Criminal Code. He may face a 100-220,000 som fine ($1,200 -$2,800) with imprisonment from two years six months to ten years.
However, Sabirov’s father, Shukhrat Sabirov, insisted his son did not beat the security officer, but “just tied the man up with duct tape.”
